Bathinda, October 17

The School of Agriculture Sciences and Engineering (SASE), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, celebrated World Food Day 2025 with a series of interactive activities promoting global food awareness and sustainable agriculture.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to foster innovation and sustainability in the food sector. An insightful seminar marked the occasion, featuring Dr. Barinderjeet Singh Toor, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Science & Technology, as the keynote speaker. He emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture, food security, and the vital role of youth in shaping resilient food systems.

A highlight of the day was the “Food Without Fire” competition, where students creatively prepared nutritious dishes without using cooking appliances—promoting energy conservation and eco-friendly food preparation.

The judging panel included Dr. Ruksana and Ms. Komalpuneet Kaur, who evaluated the innovative dishes. The event was guided by Prof. Jasvir Singh Tiwana, Head of Department, with valuable support from Dr. Wineet Chawla, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh, and Rajinder Singh.

MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, and Registrar, Gurinderpal Singh Brar, appreciated the department for organizing such meaningful activities that inspire awareness and responsibility towards sustainable food practices.

Winners were felicitated with certificates and tokens of appreciation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the organizing committee, acknowledging the enthusiastic participation of students, judges, and faculty.

The celebration served as a reminder of the shared responsibility to build a world where food is secure, sustainable, and accessible for all.
