Message

Objectives

• To provide impetus to the university research and related activities.
• To improve participation of faculty member to fetch research fundings.
• To sensitise, advise and assist the faculty members for research grants.
• To develop an active research culture that fosters the highest achievements.

Functions

• Creation and growth of infrastructure for research.
• Assist investigators in responding to funding opportunities.
• Assist investigators in proposal preparation and submission, including endorsement of the Institute.
• Supports faculty and students to obtain foreign travel grant for presentation at international events.
• Encourage the faculty members of the university for cutting edge, innovative and socially relevant research.
• Evaluation of every proposal at the Institute, before its further consideration by other forums.
• Formulation of research policies/guidelines including governing procedures.
• Evolution of long-term vision of research and development activities. Utilization policy for savings, if any, of project/other funds and interest accrued.
• Any other matter referred to it by the Vice Chancellor or the Registrar.

Future Targets

• Each eligible faculty member should have at least one funded project.
• Each faculty/PhD scholar should get at least one travel grant every year.
• Each department should hold at least one sponsored/funded technical event (conference, seminar, FDP) every year.
• Each department should create its own central instrumentation facility.

Type of Grants

• Institutional support for infrastructure etc. e.g., AICTE Modernisation and Removal of Obsolescence (AICTE MODROBS), etc.
• Individual/Collaborative Research Projects e.g., SERB core research grant (SERB CRG), etc.
• Institutional funding for organizing workshop/seminar/symposia/conference e.g., SERB Seminar/Symposia (SERB SSY), etc.
• International Travel Grants e.g., SERB International Travel Support (SERB ITS), etc.
