The Department of Chemistry was established as an independent department in the year 2012. Eearlier Applied Chemistry was a constituent branch of Department of Applied Sciences since year 1989 to cater to the needs of B.Tech students. The department is providing highest level of quality education right from its inception.

Department of Chemistry is a unique centre of learning that fosters innovative scientific ideas through interdisciplinary and interacting teaching and research in thrust areas of the chemical and natural sciences. The department is currently a new vibrant department and features 06 faculty members from some of the best national educational organisations like GNDU/NITs/IITs and University of Rajasthan with expertise in various cutting edge areas of science and technology. The Department pursue active research in the areas of asymmetric synthesis, organic and medicinal chemistry, heterocyclic synthesis, organometallic catalysis, polymers, nanomaterials, computational chemistry and analytical-electrochemistry. The faculty members have published several research papers, books, patents and articles at various nationally and internationally recognised platforms of high repute. The department has been selected for TEQIP II and Modrobs. The mission of the department is to provide a dynamic learning environment with emphasis on generating world class professionals of excellent quality with high professional competence in interdisciplinary research encompassing biology, chemistry and physics. The Department, under the dynamic leadership of its Head, Dr.Seema Sharma, is focused to turn students into outstanding professionals. Currently Department is offering B.Sc. (non-medical), B.Sc. (Hons. School) in Chemistry, M.Sc. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. programme.
