
A State University Established By Govt. of Punjab vide Punjab Act No. 5 of 2015 and Under Section 2(f) & 12 B of UGC
The Department of Electrical Engineering, which is more than three decades old, offers regular courses in Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering (B. Tech EE), Master of Technology in Power System (M. Tech PS). Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and its allied areas is offered both on regular basis and on part time basis. It also provides opportunity to diploma holder students to get admission in the second year of B.Tech. course. Students of batches 2019 onwards have been provided with another opportunity to adopt optional Minor Engineering in other engineering branches along with the main branch. Along with Academics, the students are encouraged to take part in various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, which are very much essential for development of personality, cultivation of team spirit and improvement in managerial skills etc.
The department has well equipped laboratories for experimental and research work. All the regular faculty members are experienced and well qualified having Ph.D degrees. Senior faculty members of the department are offering their expertise in the emerging areas of Electrical Engineering.

To provide competent and socially aware resource persons in the field of Electrical Engineering, who can adapt themselves to changing technologies.
Mission:
To achieve the vision, the department will strive:
1. To ensure effective teaching and learning for imparting knowledge and skills to solve technical problems in the field of Electrical Engineering by incorporating modern technologies and through Industry-Institute interactions.
2. To enhance the competency of students in multi-disciplinary fields, by offering flexible choice of departmental and open elective subjects.
3. For overall professional growth of students by enhancing co-curricular activities.
4. To inculcate human values, professional ethics, soft skills, leadership skills etc. through cocurricular and extra-curricular activities.

PO1: Ability to apply the enhanced knowledge in advanced technologies for modeling, analyzing and solving contemporary issues in power sector with a global perspective.
PO2: Ability to critically analyze and carry out detailed investigation on multifaceted complex Problems in area of Power Systems and envisage advanced research in thrust areas.
PO3: Ability to identify, analyze and solve real-life engineering problems in the area of Power Systems and provide strategic solutions satisfying the safety, cultural, societal and environmental aspects/ needs.
PO4: Ability for continued pursuance of research and to design, develop and propose theoretical and practical methodologies towards research and development support for the Power System infrastructure.
PO5: Ability to develop and utilize modern tools for modeling, analyzing and solving various Engineering problems related to Power Systems.
PO6: Willingness and ability to work in a team of engineers/ researchers with mutual understandings to take unsophisticated challenges, in the field of Power Systems, lead and motivate the group to inculcate multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach.
PO7: Willingness and ability to take up administrative challenges including the management of various projects of interdisciplinary nature and carry out the same in an efficient manner giving due consideration to societal, environmental, economic and financial factors.
